Top Seattle Couples Photoshoot Spots
& Insider Timing Tips

Start with the backdrop you want most. These six locations cover Seattle’s coastal, skyline, garden, woodland, waterfront, and spring-bloom settings:

Couple walking together in warm late-afternoon light Coastal Bluffs & Puget Sound

Discovery Park Bluffs & West Point

Discovery Park pairs open bluff trails with tall grass, Puget Sound views, and beach access near West Point. It works best for couples who want their gallery to feel windswept, spacious, and distinctly Pacific Northwest.

Pro-Tip: Plan for the final 90 minutes before sunset and bring a layer for the bluff breeze. Beach access adds walking time, so choose either the bluff loop or the shoreline as the session priority.

Couple embracing in strong golden backlight on an open lawn Skyline Views & Open Lawns

Gas Works Park & Lake Union Skyline

Gas Works Park gives you wide lawns, industrial structure, Lake Union, and a clean downtown skyline in one compact area. It suits playful movement, picnic-style portraits, and sunset silhouettes.

Pro-Tip: Weekday evenings are calmer. We start on the lower lawn and finish near Kite Hill as the skyline lights come on.

Couple smiling together beneath a shaded garden canopy Botanical Paths & Seasonal Color

Washington Park Arboretum

The Arboretum offers layered greenery, quiet paths, bridges, and seasonal color without leaving the city. It is a strong choice for intimate portraits and couples who prefer a softer garden setting.

Pro-Tip: Choose one garden zone for the hour. Azalea Way and the nearby woodland paths provide the most variety with the least walking.

Seattle Great Wheel and waterfront pier evening portrait overlooking Puget Sound Iconic Waterfront & Elliott Bay

Seattle Waterfront & Pier 57 Great Wheel

A romantic stroll along Elliott Bay overlooking the iconic Seattle Great Wheel and Puget Sound ferries, with dramatic maritime skies and evening waterfront lights reflecting on the water.

Pro-Tip: Best scheduled around dusk when the Great Wheel lights begin to glow across the waterfront.

Couple moving hand in hand along a shaded Seattle neighborhood path Secluded Forest Trails & Golden Hour

Ravenna Park & Woodland Ravine

A tranquil forested ravine in the heart of Seattle with wooden footbridges, giant mossy maples, and quiet secluded paths where warm golden hour light filters through the lush green canopy.

Pro-Tip: Offers rich shade and vibrant greenery, ideal for natural, intimate moments away from crowds.

Couple hugging and smiling under blooming pink cherry blossoms in Seattle Romantic Floral Blooms & Natural Light

Spring Cherry Blossoms & Neighborhood Blooms

Soft pastel blossoms and glowing natural light create a dreamy backdrop for joyful embraces, playful whispers, and warm, cinematic couple portraits in full seasonal bloom.

Pro-Tip: Seattle blossom season peaks from mid-March to mid-April in neighborhood groves and campus paths.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about locations, outfit changes, timing, and weather guarantees.

My partner and I feel super awkward in front of the camera. Can you help us look natural?

Almost every single couple tells me this before our shoot! My approach isn't about stiff posing or saying 'cheese.' I guide you with playful prompts, gentle movement, and natural interactions (whispering a silly secret, walking hand-in-hand, spinning, laughing). Within 5 minutes, you’ll forget the camera is even there and it will feel like hanging out on a date.

What time of day is best for a Seattle couples session?

Golden hour—the 60 to 90 minutes before sunset—is by far the most magical time to shoot in Seattle. The light is warm, soft, and flattering on all skin tones. For popular spots like Discovery Park or Gas Works, evening light also coincides with fewer crowds and cooler temperatures.

What should we wear for our couples photos?

We recommend bringing two coordinated outfits: one semi-formal or dressy look (e.g., maxi dress, button-down with chinos), and one cozy, casual look. Choose complementary, earthy or neutral tones (creams, warm whites, sage, terracotta, slate blue, taupe) rather than identical matching shirts. Avoid tiny repeating patterns or loud neon colors that reflect onto your faces.

Can we bring our dog or pets to the session?

Yes, absolutely! Dogs are family and make for incredibly joyful, candid moments. Discovery Park, Gas Works Park, and Ravenna Park are all pet-friendly. We recommend bringing treats, a favorite squeaky toy, and a designated friend or family member if you'd like a few shots without your pet during outfit changes.

What happens if the typical Seattle rain shows up?

Light Pacific Northwest mist or soft overcast skies actually provide gorgeous, even, softbox lighting that looks stunning in photos! However, if heavy downpours, strong winds, or hazardous wildfire smoke are forecast, our 100% weather guarantee lets you reschedule to the next available sunny date at no extra cost.

How quickly will we get our photos back?

You’ll receive 3 high-resolution sneak peek edits same-day (or the following morning for evening shoots) so you can share the news on Instagram right away. Your full private digital gallery of at least 20 guaranteed retouched photos will be delivered within 14 days.

Do you travel to Snoqualmie Pass, Mount Rainier, or other mountain spots for couples?

Yes. Weekday adventure sessions are available at Snoqualmie Pass, Mount Rainier, and the North Cascades. These destinations are quoted separately from the $299 Seattle promotion because travel time, permits, and trail access vary. Inquire for a custom flat-fee quote; hiking time is built into the destination package so it does not reduce your photographed session time.

How do we book a couples session?

Simply fill out the contact form on our website, select 'Couples & Engagement', and mention your preferred date and favorite location. I'll get back to you within hours with location options and availability to lock in your date!
